If “Spatial Audio” Apple Music sounds better to you on headphones, kudos—but it really shines if you have an actual surround speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. (Even if it’s like the fifth or sixth time we’ve tried to re-invent quadrophonic.)
Watts Martin @stevesnider it definitely works! My receiver shows what format audio is coming in at, and Atmos music from the Apple TV displays "Object".
Steve sitting down with my audiophile son to listen via our receiver and theater speakers and you are correct - some of these mixes provide quite the enhanced experience. Others are more hit or miss, but in general the experience provides a very full and immersive sound field.
